About

The partnerships team is focused on creating impact partnerships that encourage leading action-focused projects, initiatives, consultations under several themes such as energy, finance, tech & entrepreneurship, youth & education, government, food security & water, nature-based solutions & biodiversity, inclusion, gender, constituency, fragility. The Partnerships Team aims to bring organizations, corporations, and communities together to generate a lasting impact on the climate change agenda.

Highlights from the partnerships teams include:

  • Launching the University Climate Network to support youth, research, and carbon neutrality at UAE higher education institutions
  • Organized three speaking events focusing on the UAE's efforts in advancing global climate action and the importance of COP28. The talks were held at The American University of Sharjah, Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai and The Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy
  • Participated in the 146th IPU Assembly in Bahrain where over 2000 parliamentarians from around 140 nations visited the COP28 stand, designed to inform participants about COP28's goals and ambitions
  • Took part in the World Bank and Spring meetings in Washington DC and met with key political leaders, heads of Multilateral Development Banks and private sector leaders

To engage with COP28 priorities, a Universities Climate Network has been established with 12 leading universities across the UAE.

YOUTH CLIMATE
DELEGATE PROGRAMME

The Youth Climate Champion role is designed to amplify the work of youth-led and youth-focused organizations within the COP process. H.E. Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Development, will be the first-ever Youth Climate Champion with a Ministerial role. She will be responsible for engaging with youth globally in the lead-up to, and during, COP28 UAE.

This will include working with local and global stakeholders to provide capacity-building opportunities for youth, as well as mechanisms to fund youth innovations in the field. H.E. Al Mazrui is also the Vice Chair of the Arab Youth Center, the Secretary General of the Education and Human Resources Council, Chairperson for Special Olympics UAE, and President of the National Center for Education Quality.
